I don't know why we're on an expedition kick all of a sudden but okay
This came up for sale a little while ago on a forum I'm on. He had it listed for $9000. 2002 Expedition with a full lightning conversion. It made 398hp and 494tq at the wheels.

I'm eating my fist right now! It's awesome!
Except, I think I'd take a more minimalist/less intrusive approach to the gauges.

I'd rock it. Looks way better than the current expedition IMO.

I always thought this was the best generation. We leased a 5.4 XLT back in 98 and it was a good truck. The only reason my dad didn't buy it is because they didn't give him a good enough deal when it came time to turn it in to justify the awful highway mileage when he was commuting an hour + each way for work. He ended up getting a 00 taurus SE after that, then went back to a 03 yukon 5.3 and we've been in GM SUV land ever since.

Well the gauge cluster is out of a 2nd gen lightning, the rest is pure aftermarket.

Ford built a few of these "for fun" prototypes but I don't think they were ever going to be built. Back when the 1st gen lighting came out, ford built a lightning bronco
They also had the lighting bolt, which was a 2nd gen lightning motor-trans-rear end crammed into a ranger

Expeditions are great, I drive one as my usual vehicle when I am home from college. It may weigh a lot but the big girl can move. It makes a pretty decent noise to when you put your foot down. Bone stock it has 365 ft-lbs, add a few go fast bits and that motor has a hell of a lot more to give.

Yup. There's a Lightning Bolt running around here near my job.

I have enough explorer experiences to write a damn novel titled " Plays With Explorers"
My brother had a 93 Eddie Bauer in HS, after that got totaled in a 6 car pile up on the bay bridge in maryland (not at fault), he got a 98 XLT V8 which he kept until 2008 when he traded it in on his 06 charger r/t. Now he has a 94 eddie bauer with a 4" lift, 33's and a M50d 5spd.
One of my friends has a 00 XLT V8 thats knocking on 200k with the original engine/trans

are you sure its not a SLP thunderbolt? Because ford never actually built a 5.4L ranger

If it makes you feel any better, the lightning bolt is still out there. I saw it at the all ford nationals in carlisle, PA in 2013. Since Ford doesn't keep all the prototypes and concepts around like GM does, I was certain this got crushed. Apparently I was wrong.
